Iain Anderson - Christchurch Trainer

Iain is a respected and experienced Hypnotherapist who has been helping clients using hypnosis for over 25 years. As Lead Trainer, Iain is responsible for delivering the Christchurch training program.

Iain has a strong focus on bringing each individual student up to their true potential. Iain’s students see him as kind, supportive and nurturing, as well as extremely knowledgeable and a master of his profession.

Iain completed the Diploma in Advanced & Clinical Hypnosis with Ed Lester at The New Zealand School of Professional of Hypnotherapy, and was one of the first hypnotherapists in New Zealand to achieve the HPD qualification.

  • In 1985 Iain became a member of The New Zealand School of Hypnotic Science, studying under Dr Warren Stewart Dip.Clin.Hyp

Brenda Cheyne BA NZAPH
Lead Trainer for the Wellington Centre

Brenda is an experienced and highly respected practitioner in Wellington, New Zealand. As the Lead Trainer for Wellington, Brenda is responsible for delivering this training program. She is committed to graduating high level, confident, hypnotherapists, who are ready to go into practice with all the confidence and skills that they need.

Brenda’s students will tell you that she is an inspirational trainer with a passion and gift for teaching hypnosis. We are proud and fortunate to have her as our Lead Wellington Trainer.

Brenda has on more than one occasion been a guest on Mike King’s “Nutters Club”. She was also recently shortlisted for the 2011 Lesley Pearse New Zealand Women of Courage Award.

Peter Garrett

We are delighted to introduce Peter Garrett as the Lead Trainer in Auckland. Peter is an exceptionally talented practitioner and trainer who brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm.

Peter first learned hypnosis as a teenager. He mastered the art of self-hypnosis and used it to make all kinds of powerful changes in his own life. It was the start of a lifetime’s journey to gain knowledge and expertise in clinical and applied hypnosis.

Peter is one of those truly inspirational trainers whose mission is to rapidly bring his students to a level of professional mastery and confidence.

Peter has a strong background in teaching. He has recently moved his hypnotherapy practice from Christchurch to Point Chevalier, Auckland.

  • Peter fomalised his hypnotherapy qualifications, completing the Diploma in Clinical & Advanced Hypnosis in Christchurch.
  • He was one of the first practitioners in New Zealand to be awarded the prestigious HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma). This was the first externally accredited UK Hypnotherapy qualification.
  • Peter owns and runs Auckland Hypnotherapy Services in Point Chevalier.
  • He has various high level qualifications in hypnosis, NLP and other clinical modalities. He is also a talented performance coach and is able to offer his students personal supervision and professional support.

Ed Lester DCAH, BA Hons, HPD, MPNLP
Founder & Lead Trainer for the Dunedin Centre

Founder & Lead Trainer for the Dunedin Centre Ed is an experienced and respected hypnotherapist and trainer who has helped many hundreds of private clients to overcome problems and achieve their goals. He believes in giving hypnotherapy students all the tools they need to build a thriving and sustainable hypnotherapy practice in the quickest time possible. He understands that all students’ needs and personal experiences are unique and that our training courses must always reflect that diversity. Here are some of Ed’s qualifications and achievements:

  • BA in Linguistics and Visual Studies at the University of Central Lancashire.
  • Original hypnosis training with Ursula Markham of the Hypnothink Foundation in 2000.
  • Completed Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis with the Washington School in Manchester, UK. Went on to complete 2 years of personal mentoring with Dr Shaun Brookhouse, one of the UK’s most respected Hypnosis Trainers and Practitioners.
  • Elevated to Registered Status Membership of the National Council for Hypnotherapy in the UK in July 2002.
  • In 2003 he became a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists in America (the largest and oldest hypnosis organisation in the world).
  • Became a Certified Professional Life Coach in November 2004 through the International Institute of Coaching.
  • Became a Certified Master Practitioner of NLP through the UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts and Sciences in Feb 2003.
  • In 2003 Ed was one of the very first people to be awarded the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, the first ever externally accredited professional hypnotherapy qualification in the UK. This was awarded by the NCFE national awarding body.
  • In 2003 Ed became the Principle Trainer for the Oxford Training Centre for the Washington School of Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis. He trained many professional hypnotherapists who now have very successful practices of their own.
  • In 2003 and 2004, Ed was invited to speak at the National Council for Hypnotherapy’s annual conference.
  • Ed spent three years studying towards a BSc in Psychology with the UK Open University.
  • As well as private practice and professional training, Ed spent years providing training presentations to private companies and public services including to the UK National Health Service.
  • Ed moved to New Zealand in 2004 and now runs Christchurch Hypnotherapy as well as the NZ School of Professional Hypnotherapy, providing Clinical Hypnosis Diploma courses starting in August 2009.
  • Ed also provides hypnotherapy marketing and practice building help for countless other hypnotherapists, coaches and other health and wellness professionals. Details of other NZSPH Tutors and staff will be added soon. We are actively recruiting trainers around the country. All of our trainers will have significant professional experience and will be practicing hypnotherapists as well as skilled learning facilitators. The Professional Diploma Course is run in association with the UK Academy. Although UK academy staff will not be actively involved in the training programs, their input by way of course content and support is pivotal.

Ruth Lester MA (Hons)
Course Administrator

Ruth is well-loved by all of our students. Whenever students needs help or information, or if something needs organising, Ruth is on hand and ever-willing to help. We are incredibly lucky to have her as our national Course Administrator.

As well as being a prize asset with her organisational and administrative skills, she is a very highly qualified individual. In 1997, she achieved a first class honours degree at Oxford University. She also holds an MA in English Language & Literature, and Post Grad Diploma in Human Resources and Management.

Ruth is a mum to two young children, and works alongside Ed.

Her role is to provide administrative, marketing and logistical support to the course, and is the first point of contact for any queries.

Shaun Brookhouse

Principal Shaun Brookhouse is a Psychotherapist, a Board Certified Hypnotherapist, a Certified Professional Coach, Educator and Author. He is known by many as ‘a therapist’s therapist’.

He is a MasterTrainer of NLP and a Certified Master Instructor of Hypnotherapy. His skills as an instructor and trainer make him very much in demand internationally at conferences and workshops. His lively and provocative style of lecturing makes training a memorable experience. Shaun is a strong believer in personal empowerment and that hypnotherapy and coaching is a means to this empowerment. Some of Shaun’s credentials include:

Managing Director and Vice-Principal Fiona Biddle is a Certified Professional Coach, a Board Certified Hypnotherapist, and a Humanistic Counsellor. She assists her clients on a number of levels regarding better health, well-being, success and fulfilment. Fiona is the Chair of the National Council for Hypnotherapy. Originally trained in computer systems, she has applied this systemic knowledge to the assistance of her clients in achieving their full potential. Some of Fiona’s credentials include:
